The new Heroic version of Mega Minion is an incredibly powerful card. By far one of the best heroic cards so far, Mega Minion is once-again back in the meta. In this article I’ll take a look at his excellent heroic ability and how to play him in general, then we’ll take a look at three of the best decks featuring him right now!
How to Play Heroic Mega Minion
Heroic Ability – Wounding Warp (2 Elixir): Warps to the lowest-HP enemy, dealing damage on arrival.
Mega Minion is possibly the best Heroic card right now thanks to how strong his ability is in almost every situation. It allows him to instantly teleport to the lowest-HP enemy, no matter where they are. This lets Mega Minion clear out threats quicker, but more importantly allows him to get into the action in an instant. Since the lowest-HP enemy troop is often on the opponent’s side, you can use this ability to create super aggressive pushes that opponents don’t see coming. Or you can use it to make sure Mega Minion is able to defend more effectively. Since it can be used almost every time you play him, it’s one of the most consistent abilities in the game overall.
Baby Dragon Evo + Hero Goblins & Mega Minion

Cards:
- Baby Dragon (Evo)
- Goblins (Hero)
- Mega Minion (Hero)
- Zap
- Lava Hound
- Balloon
- Barbarians
- Fireball
One of the strongest combos in Clash Royale is Balloon + Lava Hound. Balloon is the most dangerous flying win con, and Lava Hound is the best flying tank. Together, they create a high-damage combo that has more HP than you can nearly imagine. Inferno cards are the best way to defeat them, but even that’s hard with cards like Zap available. This deck uses Baby Dragon as the only evo, which doesn’t surprise me. Baby Dragon’s speed boost when evolved makes Lava Hound a significantly better threat, and it helps Balloon out a lot too. If you can get all three on the field at once, opponents are extremely limited in how they can deal with them.
Decks which feature this combo usually also feature lots of other flying troops, so Mega Minion fits in perfectly. His heroic form makes him even better, as he’s able to catch up to Lava Hounds or Balloons ahead of him and quickly defend. To make sure anything on the ground doesn’t just run right past, though, we have a few options. Heroic Goblins are one of the best ground troops right now since they stay around for so long thanks to their ability, and Barbarians are great at shredding through tanks. These two are able to stall out any ground threats long enough for the flying troops to take them out, so there isn’t much to worry about.
This type of deck has proven itself as one of the most consistent over the years, and I’m not at all surprised to see it still hanging around in new forms.
Hero Giant & Mega Minion + Evo Zap

Cards:
- Zap (Evo)
- Giant (Hero)
- Mega Minion (Hero)
- Fireball
- Prince
- Dark Prince
- Bomber
- Rage
One type of deck that never fails to show up in the meta is Giant + backup. This time around is a pretty fun version of this, featuring both Princes as the primary backup for Giant. While having both Princes might seem pointless at first, they’re different enough that they actually work great together. The base Prince does more damage while being easier to counter, while the Dark Prince does AOE which does less damage but makes him harder to counter. Together, the Princes make a fast, deadly combo that constantly threatens opponents’ towers.
Most of the time with this deck, you’ll want to prioritize pushing with Giant. His ability lets him toss away the first threat to reach him, then the Princes and Bomber can help take out any other ground threats. Heroic Mega Minion is really strong right now in general, but he’s good here specifically since he’s the only flying defense. Zap as the evo in this deck helps protect both Giant and the normal Prince from dangerous swarms, and Rage is just great in general right now. Ever since the update that let it deal damage when played, Rage has really been an incredible spell.
Because of the higher Elixir cost of this deck’s threats, you do want to be a bit patient here. You can’t just throw Giant and Prince on the field and hope it works out. Try and keep a bit of Elixir available for spells any time Giant is across the bridge, and don’t throw everything onto the same side of the field unless you’re really desperate to take a tower or running out of time. It’s easier to balance it all out if there’s a Prince on each side.
Evo Valkyrie + Hero Goblins & Mega Minion

Cards:
- Valkyrie (Evo)
- Goblins (Hero)
- Mega Minion (Hero)
- Zap
- Lava Hound
- Spirit Empress
- Fireball
- Tombstone
Well we’ve already had one Lava Hound deck on the list, so why not another? Heroic Mega Minion is so strong right now that he’s made these types of decks better since he fits so well into them. However, this one is a bit different since it doesn’t feature Balloon or Baby Dragon. Instead, this one is a more traditional all-round deck instead of being all-in on the flying aspect. It does have several fliers, but it’s more well-equipped for ground defense as well. Evo Valkyrie is one of the strongest evo cards in the game for defending, and she’s also strong since she’s able to group enemies up similar to Tornado. This makes spells like Fireball and Zap more effective, and also strengthens other AOE attacks.
Spirit Empress really shines in this deck as the main DPS unit in her flying form. She’s great to put behind a Lava Hound, as she can easily defend it and does lots of damage when given the chance to survive for a while. Heroic Mega Minion is really good here since it also defends Lava Hound well, but its ability makes it better at defending than most others. This deck has some of the most powerful individual cards in the game, you just have to put them all together and make it work.
For this deck I would recommend playing more “reactively” than with other Lava Hound decks. You can’t just play Lava Hound and put Spirit Empress or Mega Knight behind it. This deck needs to find opportunities, but when it finds them, it’s more efficient at taking advantage of them than other versions since it can defend better.
